The DOGS in silicone sealent CT 1

This silicone works even when water is present, and it apparently works under water. If anyone aint tried this then your missing out !

My merchant seen the rep fix a plastic cup full of water with a split in it and
I used some the other day on a job 5 guys from my company had been to and it cured the problem no messing !

Available in clear,white and grey and it sticks anthing to anything i hear !
I rate this highly and someone shud of come up with this years ago

Anyone else used this and opinions ?

Been around for years, similar stuff to Sticks Like Sh¡t and Serious Stuff, but in a choice of colours (I think you can get black and beige as well). Good stuff but expensive compared to standard bathroom silicone, which is all you really need most of the time

You will never want to use regular silicone sealant once you've started using CT1. Warning to cheapskates though, its around £8-9 a tube!

Another thing you should try is the CT1 solvent spray. Then when you use the sealant spray solvent onto it. Then you can shape or neaten up the sealant without affecting the adhesion. They also recommend you prep any surfaces to remove dirt using the spray. Any excess on your fingers wipes clean off with the solvent or cleaning wipes.

When the sealant dries it has a hard rubber appearance and isn't as stretchy as your usual silicone.

compared to standard bathroom silicone, which is all you really need most of the time[/quote] Forget your standard sealent now ! defo would'nt touch the stuff as after a while most of them end up going mouldy and looks rank ! as for sticks like ****! used that but thought it was more of a builders product for things like sticking skirting boards and other bodge like jobs ?

If you want to try a couple of other products in mastic tubes then;
5 minute Polyurethane Wood Adhesive Gel (toolstation )78519. This stuff replaces your standard waterproof wood glue. You wet both wood surfaces so they are damp. Apply minimal glue and spread it out. Clamp the wood if possible and it will be set in 5 minutes. The glue foams slightly so will fill small gaps. Don't get any on clothes, hands or other surfaces!

Another sold by Screwfix is 20229. Ceresit PL500 Instant Grab. Works better than most of the other 'grab' adhesives. After about 24 hours it sets solid hard so you can paint over it.

I know what you mean tho' it is a great product, I tend to use stixall,or workx, now as they are much cheaper and seem to do the same job.

I sure wish *I* did to get freebies. Btw, why did they give it such a dumbass name. I mean what marketing Einstein came up with 'CT1'. If I suggest a better name can I have a pallet load of the stuff?

Come on guys some of the best products on the market have been renamed. You should really sell it to the USA as that market is huge and would earn you 100's of millions.

Used the 'Clear CT1' yesterday to seal grp roofing sheets that sit almost horizontal. Was getting rain wicking back into the overlaps. CT1 has sealed them beautifully, 100% and its completely see through. I must take some pics of the job and post them up. Again if you've not used the can of solvent its a must buy. When you spray a little solvent on the fresh sealant it almost comes alive and you can shape and sculp the stuff just as if you were shaping fresh putty.

i have a hairline crack in an aav pot, on a turbomax 242, the pot is directly mounted behind the pump.cheapest price for a pump is £100 plus vat, would this be worth a try as its only a weep

Just tried CT1 for the first time and would not recommend for a smooth finish, drags and is like trying to smooth contact adhesive.Requires a lot of pressure to extrude from gun.
Also tried the solvent and so far not found anything it will remove, tried it on some old adhesive staining on pvc and would not touch the marks, also tried it to remove double sided foam adhesive and no luck , would not even remove CT1 which I would have thought it was created for?

Sounds like a wind up to me. Its consistency is similar to regular silicone so how can it be any harder to extrude? When you've applied a bead of it, you can spray the solvent on it to allow it to smooth out.

I tried the solvent had no effect on the ct1.I found it thicker than silicon and as it contains adhesive very sticky and therefor difficult to smooth.

Lots of places online sell for around £10, contact adhesive would probably be easier for your task depending on where it is.
It is definitely of a thicker consistency than regular silicone but still a very good product, ive been using it for sticking and sealing some leadwork on a leaky roof.
