Was at a customers house today to fit some new lighting. When I went to isolate at CU I noticed that the circuit breaker for the smoke detectors was in the off position. Customer said that if it was switched on the alarm sounded constantly, which it did when I switched it on.

What might be the cause?

Smoke detection I presume only.
Clean them out, if over 10 yrs old replace.
Also a metering out of the cables just in case some damage from some works. ( Isolate first of course)

Mains interlinked I assume, Aico are the generally used make.

Didn't look that closely but I think there was a heat detector in the kitchen.

My work there is finished, but I said I would ask some people I know (that's you) and ring her with any suggestions I got.

Cheers for the input.
