Hi all, some advice please, my sister in law complained recently that there was no hot water coming out of her kitchen mixer tap, and sure enough there was not, no reason for it at all, i assumed and wrongly that it was a problem with the cartridge in the kitchen mixer, fitted nice new mixer, and turned the water back on alas again no hot water, the problem being is there is a feed tank in the loft and the 22 mm feed to the taps goes along the joists in the loft, the big and it is big header tank is not more that about 18 inches above this 22 mm pipe, my reckoning is that the static head of water is not good enought, (she complained in the past of the the shower mixer not being good enough and a pump was fitted,
my question is this
what are the options for her
1. raise the height of the header tank could only increase by about 3 ft or so or more like
how about this is there a means to fit a pump actuated by flow on the primaqry feed to the hot water taps

any ideas guys

kindest regards Dave

18" is a very poor static head so you have correctly identified your sister in laws problem.
Lifting the tank to it's highest posible position (3ft) will improve things.
Another thing you can do is increase the cold feed from the tank to the cylinder to 28mm leaving off all valves (this does work).
You can also fit a domestic pump to the h/w which will improve the flow on the whole I wouldn't really recomend this action though. Try all the above options first
servotech,

One more thing - If the cylinder is below in the airig cupboard and the h/w as to be forced back up and over you should also be able to improve things by lifting the cylinder to a higher position.
