Hi I have a telephone extension point in the spare bedroom. I decorated the walls and lifted it off and I think by doing this one of the wires disconnected inside. Now only terminal 2 (red wire) and terminal 5 (brown wire) are connected. Am I right in thinking that 3 should also be connected?

Thing is the wires aren't normal - I have red, brown, orange, green, white, blue, black and grey. The other 2 extensions in the house have the striped wires like in the diagrams on the web but this one for some reason doesn't. Does it matter which one of these I connect up to 3? And does the power need to be off for this?

Was 3 connectedin the first place?
Put in a phone and ring it.
If it does not ring then 3 was connected. Go to the other sockets and see where your other colour was connected and use that colour.
