Redfyre Centrajet 18/28 Burner Motor

Anybody know anything about this boiler? We've been without heat now for four days, and supposed "boiler specialist" does not know how to sort it out due to its age.

It stopped firing unless we pressed the red switch, and then cuts out after few seconds. Nozzle, Filter, replaced and it worked for about an hour. Photocell replaced and worked for an hour before cutting out. then went to only few minutes, then seconds.

Then worked if we undo the nut on the oil feed, get some air in and start it. agian, only for 10 minutes or so.

Engineer thinks it may be the pump but cannot get hold of a replacement, (anybody have one?). undid pump and rubber thing seems to have split. put jubilee clip on and it stoppped working completely. now got no life.

Sounds like solenoid coil on pump was initial problem, but with all the mesing, could be anything now. You need an 'old head' on something this age asthe original parts will need to be replaced from current goods.

If you're referring to a Selectos D42 burner, I replaced the original Sunstrand Pump (without solinoid) with a Suntec pump with solinoid (AS47C7451) which is still available.

Called out an old-timer retired boiler engineer today. He fixed problem within 50 minutes - the new "Specialist" engineer stood and watched, (and when he left was open enough to say how much he had learned). the pump was taken apart, sand and grit cleared out and re-assembled within 20 minutes. Brilliant. Secondary problem was the Control Box. "Specialst" had an old one which yesterday he had discounted because the model numbers were different. The Wise Old Hand went through each of the connectors methodically to compare, identified that substantilly they were same and should work and hey presto - up and running in five minutes. Quick repair on a cover, temperature and tint testing. then an hour chatting to make sure it all went smoothly, on off etc. Fantastic.

Currently running better than ever.
