Would appreciate some help.
Had a room laminated which has a step leading down to a split-level lounge area.
It looks great apart from a problem with the edging on the step:
builder struggled to find anything matching to finish this edge (there is matching beading everywhere else) so put an l-shaped piece nosing across.
I didn't mind the colour different so much as I could stain that but it is quite proud of the floor and we kept catching toes on it - and now a child managed to catch it hard enough to kick it off one area.

Any advice on how to finish this step off nicely - with low-profile ideally rounded piece?

how it looks - the bottom step is carpeted but the "wall" of the top one is matching laminate down:

What brand and colour is the laminate that you have? Depending on the brand of laminate you can buy matching accessories.

If not, you can get a self adhesive nosing strip made by a company called Stikatak. The colours available are Matt Silver, Matt Gold, Maple, Ash, Beech and Oak. It comes in 2.7m lengths.

Have a look on Ebay for laminate nosing.

I think the best thing you can do is, if you have any spare boards left over, is to take one with you to some local independent flooring shop, and see if they have any nosing to match.

Thanks.
I do have nearly a box spare.
Will have to hunt out an Indy Flor specialist in Manchester.

As to the Aluminium Nosing - looks good but do they come in faux-wood coverings do you know? Would prefer that to the jarring of metal on wood for that area.

Yes, you can buy the aluminium nosings with a faux wood covering on them, but it depends on whether there are any available which matches closed to the colour of your laminate. Which is why it's best if you take a board or two with you to an independent shop and see what they have available.

Another option would be to have a look at the packaging and see if you can get in contact with the manufacturer and see if they have matching accessories, and see if they can give you a list of local stockists.
