Can ptfe and paste be used at the same time on water and central heating fittings? I no it can't on gas.

PTFE on an old olive if you have to re-use it. An acceptable way of sealing a joint. PTFE on every olive, even new ones, is DIYer territory.

Always a worry when you work on a system that has PTFE poking out of every compression nut.

Boss white(generic trade name) on every olive. PTFE or Loctite 55 on all threads. Most of these thread 'glues' are sh.te. PTFE on new olives is only done by DaftyDIYers & course cowboys.

Bosswhite and Hemp on screwed thread fittings - boss green and ptfe on wholesome water screwed fittings
