Ptfe or paste over olives is fine.
Why do they tell you not to wear 2 Johnnies at the same time?
PTFE on an old olive if you have to re-use it. An acceptable way of sealing a joint. PTFE on every olive, even new ones, is DIYer territory.

Boss white(generic trade name) on every olive. PTFE or Loctite 55 on all threads. Most of these thread 'glues' are sh.te. PTFE on new olives is only done by DaftyDIYers & course cowboys.
Colloquially known as a double-bagger, so I am told.
You wear a bag over your head, in case the one you've put over hers should fall off.
So PTFE and paste is acceptable on water fittings? Although its not on gas.
Not a case of being acceptable or not. It is just flicking stupid.
