Oven blocked by cooker hose

What the hob manufacturer says is irrelevant and also what happens in Italy ....the hose installation must comply with the manufacturer...and none of them will allow some contorted route around an oven or drawer set.

Yes, the hob should not be fitted with a hose....get a gas installer round to pipe up in copper.

And of course the hob must be fitted to the worktop to comply with the clearances stated in the manual. Same for extractor height.

This sounds like another bodge job kitchen with dodgy gas, plumbing and electrics.

First two lines are helpful thanks. Last line a bit petulant, some people are still learning the trade and might not have years of experience. But thanks all the same.

Learning the trade and bodging it

There's no excuse for not doing the job legally and properly.

You don't fit gas hobs until you understand the regs and are qualified and licenced...end of.

The whole point of gas registration is to ensure that anyone doing gas work has been assessed as competent to do it safely!

There is no "learning on the job" apart from training under professional supervision before being assessed.

Of course that is no use if householders bypass that by employing someone who is not gas registered or attempt DIY gas work!

You two must be rough as a badger's arris. I only use the yellow one.

Not only is it the right colour for gas, but it doesn't kink.

Might convert to the posh grey one in Costco as it has factory made ends.

Pressure loss might be an issue though as it only comes in 30 metre lengths. :p

Hopefully common sense will prevail & no one in their right mind would fit a hose to a hob that'll undoubtably be in contact with an oven......

That's why we have apprenticeships, but for gas, any moron with a few bits of paper & a cowboy course under his belt can be let loose on an unsuspecting public???......Go figure!!!........
