Hi Guys...........anyone know if it is reasonably straight forward to change clutch on a Citreon Berlingo 1.9 diesel.....Reg 03.

Its a straight forward job as clutches go - the box comes out from underneath and there is plenty of room. You'll need to release the suspension bottom joints on both sides to release the driveshafts of course, together with the gear linkage.
You need a hoist for this...have you considered a quote from a Mr. Clutch specialist before you get stuck in?
John :)

Thanks for that Burnerman..........Yes, I had a quote for £170 which sounded reasonable but did wonder if it was a straight forward operation so to speak. From what you say I think the Mr Clutch route might be sensible.

That sounds a very competitive quote indeed....
Ask them after the job if the gearbox oil is topped up and check yourself for the next couple of weeks to see that the driveshaft oil seals, where they enter the gearbox, aren't leaking. These won't be replaced as a matter of course.

I know this is a very old thread but if a clutch is being replaced on a 54 plate citroen berlingo 1.9D do the driveshafts have to be removed? Cheers

Yes they do......the bottom swivel joint on each front hub is separated, and the driveshafts are then withdrawn from the gearbox after the large nut on the hub centre is undone.
Completely conventional!

So in other words if you had a clutch changed 6 months ago and now some of the bolts holding the gearbox on to the engine have come loose / fallen out and the driveshaft has popped loose, would you say this is all a result of the clutch change???

Bearing in mind it had all been fine for 155k miles then in the last 12k since the clutch change all this happens, cheers

What??? Hells bells
If the bell housing bolts have come loose / fallen out, then they were left slack in the first place
It must be bloody serious for the drive shaft to pop out too.....
There must be other damage here, I feel.
John :)

Yeh we've had someone up and they seem to think that the gearbox has had it aswell now so it's not looking good for the poor little van :(

All transmissions rely on things being in perfect alignment for them to work correctly, and that goes for the clutch too......it doesn't bode well, I'm sorry to say.
John :)

Looks like I'm going to have to go have a word with the chap who done the work. it was a bloke that lives down me old mans road so is meant to be a mate :)
