new lid for water tank

My mum's loft tank had water from the overflow so I went up and found the cover was just hardboard which had got wet, broken, and fallen onto the ball valve.

So overflow sorted but need a new cover..

Should it be insulated?

I've see these which seem the right size - will they do the job?

Any plastic lid will be fine, and feel free to insulate the top if you want - even if its just draping insulation over the top and sides, that will do.
Make sure no hardboard remains within the tank!

So I bought the lid... and it was too small. My fault. Anyway the good news is wickes will take it back.

So.. sounds a silly question but where does one go to buy a simple sheet of plastic? I mean everything is made of plastic these days, but if you just want a plain sheet that can be cut to size, where do you go???
