Hi
I got a new cooker hood which is to be wired into my old cooker hood socket.
My old hood only had blue and brown but my new one has and earth wire to.

See the pic of my plug I understand where to wire the brown and blue but where do I put the earth wire ?

Many thanks

Assuming the grey cable is the incoming supply to the item you are holding and the white cable is the cable to the old hood.

The earth to the new hood will go into the same terminal as the earth wire in the incoming cable.

Why is the incoming Live not connected ?

The item you are holding is not a plug. Almost certain it is an FCU with a fuse and maybe a switch.

Thank yes the white wire was the old hood. The live from the grey wire just popped out when I toke the pic lol
Ok so earth and earth together sounds good ill give it a try thank you

It looks correct provide the blues go to terminals marked N and the browns got to terminals marked L

And since the Live popped out make sure all terminals are tightened down before refitting it.

If I didn't know better, I'd say someone's pulled that metal flush metal box out of the wall, and fitted it to the surface of the wall higher up, not flushed in.

And no grommet.
