How do I get data off an old SCSI drive?

Hi. I am trying to get data off an old SCSI drive. I think the SCSI card was broken so bought one off ebay. All plugged in on another desktop PC. The SCSI drive spins nicely but is not recognised by the PC at all (cannot see in Disk Management).
Having spoken with a friend I understand the SCSI controller has it's own BIOS. this presumably I can install - reluctant to do this as do not wish to endanger health of another PC.

Also noticed can get SCSI to SATA adapters. Does that mean I can use a SATA connection and bypass the need for a SCSI card completely? And If yes does it mean i can get data off the drive that was written whilst in SCSI mode? SCSI info on the internet is difficult to get at - as such an old technology. Any insight would be very helpful. Many thanks.

Been a long time since I used SCSI but iirc you need to terminate the chain/drive.

Only ever used scsi with macs but do remember as Cylon said, will not be recognised unless terminated [used to be a simple as plugging a terminator socket on the last hard drive on system.]
