Hi,
I have an old Victorian house which we bought in 2007. It has what is described as a posh loft with a staircase leading up to it and boarded out with a velux style window. We had it insulated with kingspan and have been using it as a play room/bedroom with just a light single bed and toys up there for many years and the previous owners have also. Anyway we replaced the carpet and i took a board up to see what was under and I realised the floor does not look to have been strengthened.
Bit worried now that its going to come crashing through any time, am i worrying to much and would it have done by now? what would be the symptoms of it any damage? Its a big attic with easy head hight room and staircase coming through the middle. The joists measured about 2inches wide and about 5.5 inches deep and looked in good shape. Excuse me if i sound a bit daft im not a DIY kind of person!
