old patio has been removed which was layed on building sand and klinker underneath that.

this has now compressed down as it has been like this over a year , could indian sandstone be laid straight over this with a full mortar bed or would a rake out of the sand be required and type 1 going down then wacking down ?

you must remove the sand and ideally add 75mm of compacted type 1 as well

looking at getting a contractor in at doing this now , i can buy the stone for £2000 , the type 1 ,sharp sand , cement , acco drains is best part of 2k

90-100 pounds a square metre is a good guide for a full pro job start to finish materials labour and waste included.

could be more in the south east, much more in that London.

£100 a meter and me supplying the stone

had quotes of £50 a meter and thought that was expensive

no as i said that figure included all labour waste and materials.

It was just as a guide to help.

well the £50 a meter i got quoted turned out to be a carrot price

8k labour with me supplying the stone is the cheapest quote i received

started digging it out myself , will just do it over a number of months

i think it will take 1 person 3-4 weeks to do alone.

and cost around 4k all in
