What insulation anchors for sand/cement render

Hi there,

Are plastic insulation anchors OK when rendering with sand and cement over Kingspan Kooltherm (K5)?

Or would the sand/cement finish be too heavy? Are the plastic anchors only for use with light weight polymer renders?

Not too sure although them fixings are very strong if you use the right drill bit, but one thing I would do is use board adhesive to stick the boards to the wall first and let it go off before fixing anchors as the board adhesive is usually very strong and will help with carrying additional weight.

Just out of interest how are you planning to get the sand and cement to adhere to the boards ? surely sand and cement will fail as its not sticky enough plus the lack of flexibility ?

According to me, using plastic anchor for boards will be very much fine. You do not need to consider much about weight.
