Has anyone fitted one of these ?

Shouldn't there be a bigger hole here to allow the tit to stick out and then be pressed in by the float arm.

Is this manufactured wrong or does it work off air pressure ?

Thanks

looks ok to me - not the best floatvalve in the world though!

I've used them for about 20 years, they are extremely quiet (sometime you get one that buzzes as it shuts, email the manufacturers and they will post you a modified part)

they are quite prone to grid or scale, in which case you dismantle and wash in clean water. I have only ever had that happen after working on the supply pipe or cold tank. When fitting one, let the pipe gush for a minute or so first to wash out any loose particles. There is a tiny stainless pin that goes through the white grommet in the black diaphragm. You will need a torch to see it.

It is often said that the newer Fluidmasters are more reliable.

Thanks for the reply. This one has a filter in the stem.

Ironically I'm fitting this one to replace a very noisy valve.

I think the metal bit has been replaced with plastic

It's an equilibrium type valve...whatever you do don't start drilling holes in them.
