a few years ago we had a lawn laid, it looked lovely

then we got a female dog, their wee damages grass

put rocks in the dogs drink but there is still some loss

plus trees shade and the rear garden is north facing

it is now both muddy and patchy, dog also churns it

is their a tough grass that can stand this bad news?

hope somebody can help

A more suitable seed mix would help but thats a big old job to start again.

An easy option of feeding it a few times a year, aerating every couple of years and keeping the dog off it would be a good start.

A shade tolerant mix of seed types rather than straight up rye grass is the best bet. Lots of good info on suppliers websites, try progreen, pitchcare, boston seeds.

Even with the perfect mix though lawns need maintained to perform well, such as the feeding and aerating etc mentioned above.
