ISIS documentary

I read somewhere that it's estimated that by 2050, Christians will still outnumber Muslims, but that this will probably no longer be the case by the turn of the century.
If religion is so unimportant, and as an atheist, agnostic or disinterested person, what does it matter which religion will have the greatest numbers?

Currently:
350 million Buddhists - http://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/history/bud_statwrld.htm
2.1 Billion Christians approx 33% of population - http://www.pewforum.org/2011/12/19/global-christianity-exec/
1.6 Billion Muslims approx 23% of population- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_by_country

So where did you read the estimation of Muslims and Christians?

What about the influence of about 40% who are non-believers?

The non-believers don't tend to congregate or actively group themselves together, certainly not in the numbers and frequency of the believers.

If religion is so unimportant,
Who said it is unimportant?

and as an atheist, agnostic or disinterested person,
Who are you referring to?

what does it matter which religion will have the greatest numbers?
If:

is an indication of reality, then quite a lot for our lineage.

What about the influence of about 40% who are non-believers?
Depends if they unite and decide to kill all those with faith.

I suspect that Malthusian predator/prey models will play a part in the way things pan out.

This might be news to you but some religious zealots like to kill atheists, agnostics and disinterested people. Silly chap.
This might be news to you but some racially prejudiced zealots want to commit genocide on ethnic minorities. Silly chap.

http://www.livescience.com/50370-worlds-religious-population-will-grow.html
Thanks for that, Dex.
However the article did say "If those numbers pan out...."
It also mentioned that the majority of the increase will be in sub-saharan Africa. "For instance, a good chunk of the growth in Christianity and Islam is expected to happen in sub-Saharan Africa, where birth rates are high. "

The article also made no mention of a projection towards the end of the century. So was that your deduction, alone?

It appears to the consensus of opinion on here.

You, me, the majority of posters on GD.

I'll have to get back to you on this point, short of time now.

What about the influence of about 40% who are non-believers?
Depends if they unite and decide to kill all those with faith.
Are you suggesting that this is the normal behaviour of religious people?

I suspect that Malthusian predator/prey models will play a part in the way things pan out.
"Species compete, evolve and disperse simply for the purpose of seeking resources to sustain their struggle for their very existence."

Resources being the operative word, not religion.

It wasn't me who stupidly asked 'what does it matter which religion will have the greatest numbers['. Obviously to anyone with half a brain it might be a matter of life or death. I wonder how many of the people who have been slaughtered by ISIS were killed because they were devout or because they weren't muslims. Idiot!

Actually, the article I originally read was on the history of a different computer, so I had to google one to appease you.

This was the original one I read. Both the one mentioned earlier and this one refer to The Pugh Research Centre, and it was an oversight on my part not to have checked that they both cited the same deduction.

I suspect that Malthusian predator/prey models will play a part in the way things pan out.

Religions thrive on resources. Religions evolve like species. The analogy holds.

This might be news to you, but some so called religious fanatics like to commit genocide on their own people. Good old RoP

Sadly the only reform islam will ever see is the one where they revert back fully to the ways of their beloved paedophile mohammed.
Which is child rape, decapitatings, subjugating women, slaying the infidels large scale etc.

Their like parasitic locusts. Then when they have the area destroyed they destroy each other.
Because that's the nature of islam. Continual fighting and war.
