I have the above laptop with an Intel Duo 1.73 GHz and running Windows Vista.

The display is perfect and the Windows is still supported so I would think that its worth renovating.

The keyboard is missing about 10 keys and its not scanning the KB properly. I will sometime try a USB keyboard and see if that works.

However my immediate problem is that when it does boot up its looking for a single password which I don't know!

How can I add another password for my use?

Or how can I discover the current password?

It does give a clue for the password of "Arsenal". Any football fans suggest a few possibilities?

Thanks

Tony

The Gunners maybe or Highbury, Emirates possibly.

I am sure there is a way to reset password in boot up safe mode, not done this for sometime, so likely process has changed. So best wait for the techies to advise.

Not at all.

Just been busy and renovating the old laptop is awaiting my time.

But thanks for the link to that workaround. It looks like it can solve the problem although not the retrieval of the existing password that I was hoping for.

Don't think you will find a system that recovers the password, they just remove password protection.
