Special Code Needed To Hire Car Abroad

Worth knowing that you'll need to get a special code from the DVLA if you want to hire a car abroad after 8th June.

I guess as I still have the old pink licence (no photo etc, but convictions are listed) I don't have to worry?

Haven't got a clue John. More bureaucracy as far as I can see. I've still got the paper license too. No plans to go abroad this year myself, but I thought I'd post it for anyone who was.

was listening to this on the radio on the way home,an aa guy was basically saying that even though the dvla is abolishing the paper part of the license he recommended you hang on to it for proof.
also he says that the code will only last 72 hours,so when you away for 2 weeks ans the 2nd week you decide you want to hire a car,your basically fooked.
apparently you need your national insurance number aswell.
seems to me theyve broken something that didnt need fixing.hey ho will only affect those who need it .
