We have had a Miele g646sc dishwasher for 16 years which has worked faultlessly. Recently after a bang (near the programe controller) it continued to run through the cycle. When restarting later more bangs from same area and an investigation. The pcb had a blown triac which I replaced. It ran again without problem until the start of drying when there was a bang again and the same triac blew. The heating element works fine as does circulation pump and discharge pump. The drying fan is free to spin. I would appreciate any suggestions what could be causing the short. Thanks

Some fan units have a flap that opens. You may want to check that aspect. They refer to it as the PTC release element.

Hi Thanks for your reply

I removed the unit you mentioned - it was very clean - flap opens smoothly - no obvious sign of arcing or short - had not gone short circuit!. Could it be a relay temp limiter or capacitor gone down?

Two questions about the PCB.
Firstly does it have a label like EGPL-xxx
Secondly does the triac lead to a plug, and does the plug have a printed label like ST3 or ST4 etc
