Washing Machine Drain Problems

My washing manchine is about 10 years old. When wahing clothes on the final spin cycle, my washer drain that goes into the wall starts to fill up with what looks like soap foam. The drain seems to be fine because I stuck a waterhose down the drain and had no problem with it backing up or foam coming out. Please give advice if you know what might be wrong.
