Connecting new toilet to lead pipe

We are having a new bathroom fitted at the weekend and one thing we have noticed (which someone mentioned to us), is that the waste pipe (i think thats what its called anyway! the pipe outside removing the waste....) is lead, so we were wondering if this would be a problem to connect the old lead pipe to the new toilet?
