SAMSUNG Side by Side FF - UPDATE

As reported, we defrosted the fridge side, on 15th feb, 10days later the chilled water was frozen. Called Comet , defrosted again 25 and again today 6thMar (Comet due today).
Comet engineers duely turned up and changed the bottom back panel in the fridge section, took about 1/2 hour as we had already defrosted the fridge. The panel came with the fan already mounted in it. They said the polystyrene in the panel got impregnated with water and froze, on defrost cycle the water stayed in the panel and did not drain out, causing further freezing. The fridge does have a drain system that drains the water out to a tray at the back which was ok. Apparently, the new panel has been better water-proofed. (all under guarantee).

Comet engineers were ok, We'll see how it goes now.

This now May 2006 and we have had about 5 visits from Comet to try to fix the Side by side Samsung FF. They have now given up and it is to be replaced with a new one. The new back panel improved things for a while but the problem was always there - the fridge section frosts up behind the lower panel where the cooling coil is. The fan gets noisy and the the top of the fridge gets hot because the cold air is not being circulated.
