Removing power switch assembly on a Dyson DC04 - How?

The cable has worn at the entrance to the casing where the yellow power switch is and I need to cut and rejoin it.

The power swicth and teh grey surrounding assembly cover is clearly removable but is there a trick?

I have been attacking it with a screw driver to prise and pull but Im close to snapping bits of plastic off.

Any help welcome please!
