Boiler Isolator Requirements

I am replacing the electrical accessories in my kitchen. The boiler is fed from a DP switched connection unit with a 3A fuse. I've been told that this unit should have a red neon on it. The current one doesn't have a neon and I would prefer not to have one. Is it a requirement?
