Hi

I've just moved into a new house and realised that the taps in the kitchen seem broken.

When you are turning them off they just keep turning to the point where they do go off but they don't stop turning and therefore if you turn too far then the water comes back on again!

Has anyone got any idea what the problem might be and how easily it can be fixed?

Sorry for the poor description! I am new!

You could try stripping them & re-seating them but then you would have to buy a re-seating tool & so forth...Rip them out & replace them...

This is quite a familiar problem, usually becasue of cheap foreign made glands. The jumper housing falls out of the main thread and doesnt turn down correctly. A new seating may be the problem too, but open up the glands and see if it looks quite loose. There will be a bit of looseness there, but if it looks like it is about to, or already is, falling apart, then you may need a new set. B&Q ( spit ) sell them, if you do need new ones. Buy the ones with its own new heads, the 'universal' ones never are.
