Anyone had real life experience of Gledhill Torrent Direct?

Nice one Phil, when it comes to location obviously you are aware the unit weighs a lot so concrete floor ideal.
If you have space leave plenty around the unit for servicing etc the easier the acesss the cheaper any servicng/maintenance will be.

thermal store are not as good as unvented in my opinion
have you also thought about the future ?
a twin coil unvented cylinder comes in at around the £900 mark and you can then add solar if you want to later with out the need for a cylinder change.

i get free hot water nearly every day through the 8 spring summer autunm months with my solar / oso 210 twin coil cylinder

i also dislike Gledhill with a vengance heaps of sh**e comes to mind every time i hear of them
