I've got this Topic in the Plumbing section too.

I'm in a position to remove my bath tub and fit a shower cubicle. I've always done Diy within the house over the last 25yrs, as I've been involved in electrics, plumbing and etc as part my job as a maintenance supervisor within a factory enviroment.

If I removed the bath and fitted the shower tray and panels, modify the pipework for the shower tray and blank off the tap supplies and re-tiled, etc.

Would this be acceptable by insurance companies with my experience, and having full confidence in doing the job.

Do you mind if I ask why you want it to be acceptable by insurance companies? Are you anticipating a need to claim should it go wrong?

BTW, if you have the option you ought to avoid dead legs in pipework in order to discourage stagnant water and bacterial growth.

Whilst I prefer a shower, keep in mind that it is harder to sell a property without a bath.

I would keep the bath, fit a shower screen and shower unit on the wall in the bath area. Though a seperate shower is a nice idea if you can do it.
