Hi,

I am trying to fit an offset Multikwik pan connector to a 110mm soil pipe.

I went for the Multikwik on seeing several recommendations but the largest size they did was for a 98mm - 105mm soil. I assumed that this would be okay as we live in a modern house, etc.

Just trying to connect it now and although it obviously fits, the connection is a little loose and not a really tight seal as I would have expected. This is probably explained by the slight difference in sizes but I would have thought the Multikwik would have been suitable.

Everything is in bits on the bathroom floor so any quick advice would be appreciated.

Many many thanks,

Damian

110mm (OD) soil pipe has an Internal Diameter (ID) of 100mm. Therefore your Multikwik is exactly right, since the size quoted is ID.

Hi,

I am not sure whether I am connecting into a soil pipe or a soil fitting. It is made by Marley Extrusions and looks similar to the Equal Branch/Five Boss Branch on their webiste:

Is it still right for this fitting? Also, do I push the Multikwik right in even beyong the last fin so that it connects with the rubber seal on the soil.

Many thanks for the quick response.

Thanks,

Damian

Hi,

The fins on the Multikwik go into the soil pipe, and it should be a reasonably tight fit. You mention a rubber seal on your soil pipe which leads me to think that you are trying to fit it into a soil pipe socket, which is incorrect, and the fitting will be loose. You should ideally have a length of pipe with no socket, or one which has had the socket cut off.

If the soil pipe is existing and you don't have enough spare length to cut the socket off (always a no-going-back moment) then you can fit a short length (100 mm) of soil pipe into the socket to bring the inner diameter back to 100 mm and then put the Multikwik into that. Beg a short length of pipe from a plumbers merchants or search through skips, that's where I get mine from.

Rgds.
