Thermostat adjustment?

Can any 1 pls advice me how to adjust the Central Heating Manual Thermostat. I understand there is the adjustment on the mercury thermostat. Its currently 0.2, what does this signify?

Also there need to be adjustment on the gas valve for it to work properly with this Manual Thermostat. How do I adjust or measure this?

1)Give a lot more detail of the system you have. boiler make..type of controls you have and so forth...just as the sticky asks you to.
2) Unless you are gas qualified do NOT even dream of going near the gas valve
