Hi guys,
I need a little plumbing advice...

I noticed last night that I had a pool of water below underneath our combi boiler, I took the cover off but could not see any where the water had leaked from. I did notice however that the plastic ledge just below what I think is a pump was wet, but the pump felt completely dry.

So, I put a bowl below where I though the water was leaking from and checked it just before I went to bed and the bowl was empty. So then I checked it a little later in the morning (after the shower had been used) and there was about 1/2" of water in the bowl.

So again , I checked to try to find where the water was leaking from but there were no visible signs except for there being a little pool of water on the plastic ledge just below the pump.

Is there anywhere else that water can leak from in the boiler apart from the pump? Also is there anything I can do short of calling out a plumber to try to fix the problem?

Thanks

My van drips oil. Do I need a mechanic? :D

Make and model would be relevant, but the answer to that question would probably be "yes"!
ANYTHING with water in it can leak! Plastic ledges don't - you need to look into it further.

OK, just been having a chat with a mate (who is a plumber). He reckons it was probably just rain water coming down the flue due to the large amount of rain we have been having over the last day or two.

He also says he had the same problem yesterday - Girlfriend on the phone screaming that the boiler is leaking -- It was just rain coming down the flue.

I hope that is all my problem is, will keep a close eye on it over the next few days.

lol scat

if it is just the rain, you may have some seriously damaged components within the combustion chamber (fan etc)

also may be worth checking out the air tightness of the combustion chamber

stop asking "mates who are plumbers" and get someone who knows what they are talking about
