linty looking clothes

For the past few months, sfter wahing my clothes, they come out with streaks of lint on them. Sometimes, too, they end up with stains from the barrel holes. I have tried smaller loads. less soap, extra rinse etc but always get the same result. It is a Moffat washing machine. It has no lint screen. Any thoughts as to why this is happening??
p.s. I may have screwed up & have this posted twice...sorry if I do.
