Hello again,

Something other than my boiler.. :)

My mates Combi has yellow flames which he says he had not noticed before. The boiler had been serviced around 5 months ago.
His question is, should he call someone in, or can it wait until the next service i.e 7 months time?
No probs with boiler operation.

Below is a link to the video I took, hosted on youtube.
(can be cut and pasted into IE Address bar)
It runs, low flame to high flame to off. (bit blured, but colours are ok)

Thanks, Alex.

That seems to be due to loose particles rather than a lack of combustion air although the flames seem a bit floppy.

Probably no immediate cause for concern if its a room sealed boiler.

It would have helped to have mentioned the make and model of boiler though!

Congratulations, first user vid for this site I think!

That will be a very useful technology for others to use to demonstrate their problems.

It could also be used for ChrisR ( and others ) to post a video of himself so that we know what he looks like!

Only since 2030 tonight.

Yesterday I spent 12 hours at a wedding with no alcohol !

Perhaps I am out of touch but in addition to the five bridesmaids all in pink, there were five "groomsmen" with white suits, pink waistcoats and black hats. Mo, you may remember meeting, was one of them!

I guess a Ravenheat 820/20

Doesnt look that bad at all, dust more than anything else. Or maybe that
"scale" type stuff u get in the gas pipes.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I disagree.
The video is a great idea but those flames are definately yellow at the cone.
I'd get somone in to check it out if I were you just to make sure.

Thanks guys.

To get a video, you register at www.youtube.com. Then you can upload them. It then produces a link that you can paste into other things.
(all free)

I have passed on the info to my mate, he is going to call someone in to take a look, but not urgently.
he passes on his thanks.
