We (i under duress from wife!) are moving a bathroom. We need to block the old soil and create a new one. Can i break into the existing sewer and form a new waste - or is it too much of a job for a novice

Unfortunately you cannot just block off a soil vent pipe.
Do you mean "break in" to the underground sewer if so more than the average diyer job.
Have a look at the building regs for detailed guidance on what is required.

Thanks - i'll remove the old soil stack and fill the base in - as per another older posting.
