My tap (uses 3/8" washer) is dripping because it has a deep cut in the seat.
I have recut the seat a number of times with a reseating tool, but it does not stop the drip.

I was thinking of using the "Full Stop" seat insert you can buy.
I bought 1/2" seat inserts but have now just realised my taps use 3/8" washers.

-Can you buy 3/8" seat inserts (Full Stop, Robimatic etc.) somehere, as I haven't seen ??

(I assume 1/2" insert will not fit my taps, which use 3/8" washer)

-Do these seat inserts work ok ??

Thanks

I'm with Kev.

I've used these plastic inserts, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, you'll probably end up changing the taps anyway.

change the tap
is it really worth the bother :?:
I would change the taps, but main water valve also controls supply to maisonette above.
If it only supplied me I could take as long as I want fitting new taps.

The taps don't have their own supply valves & currently only copper tubing, not flexible couplings.

I'm no expert plumber & thought this might be quick/simple thing to try.

If the seat inserts don't work, then I'd have to change taps,
it just may take me a while.

-Can you get 3/8" seat inserts ??

Turn off the water, cut the copper tube below the tap, fit a small isolating valve, turn the water back on. Then you can fart around with the old tap to your heart's content without interrupting the supply to maisonette. It will also help when you finally give up and fit a new tap.

Or use the flexy hose with built-in isolator.

Didn't know about those.

Put these on, can turn main water supply back on if necessary,
replace taps, connect flexi hose & no messing with copper tube.

I inserted seat insert into leaking tap & it is working ok.

Although this tap uses 3/8" washer, the seat hole was 1/2",
so I was able to use the 1/2" Full Stop seat insert.

Considering how big the cut in the seat was, I think the insert is doing a good job.
