Shallow bath waste

I am installing a free standing bath with a shallow waste. The waste will connect to 40mm pipe and pick up a connection to a basin about 1m downstream; the single pipe will then connect to a soil stack.

I have heard that shallow wastes dont seal properly - how do I overcome this problem so that I don't pick up smells etc in the bathroom?
