Help. We had a water stoppage yesterday in our area and now after the hot water is used the pipes in the airing cupboard hum loudly for about a minute. I don't have a clue where to start here, i hope the solution is simple! :?:

may be grit\dirt on the seating\oriface of on the float valve in the loft.

it may not be though ;)

what should i do then? I did fiddle with the stop tap when there was no water to check what was wrong. Would this have caused it? Have I got a problem with air in the system?

No you need a new ballvalve in the loft ....a part2 float valve and new float is what to ask for @ plumbers merchant.......how to do it is probably in the FAQ/Sticky section ;)
