What is the best thing to use as sound insulation within a stud/partition wall?
I want to try to isolate the sound from the two rooms as much as possible?

Thanks

we use kingspan celotex board cut tight between uprights and noggings although there is probably more sound proof material out there

Any of the proprietary insulation materials will help but if you really want to kill the noise, it has to be a fairly dense medium in there. Why don’t you use 100mm blocks? In rooms where it doesn’t really matter I would use studwork for speed & convenience but if sound insulation is important between rooms, use blockwork every time; if you’re DIY, it’s even probably cheaper on materials but obviously takes longer to put up.

Rockwool will have better sound insulation properties than Kingspan/Celotex, and a board such as Fermacell will help too

Staggered studs all the way, with 2x12.5mm on one side and a 12.5 and 9mm on the other side. Use rockwool slabs in between, don't use celotex or kingspan, due to it's rigidity it can actually transmit sound.

Do a google on staggered stud walls, and google images as well.

Concrete blocks will work well, but not the lightweight ones, which means you might end up in the room below due to the floor not being able to take the weight. Also 2 seperate plasterboard walls will beat a single 4" concrete wall for soundproofing at higher volumes.
