Hotpoint WMA40 not spinning

HI,

My hotpoint WMA40 washing machine is not spinning at all. Not on slow not on fast. The wash cycles are fine until it gets to spinning.

When spinning commences the motor is heard however the drum is not spinning.

I removed the rear panel and cleaned the hose and the drain which was clogged with all sorts of papers and hair and stuff.

I also removed the front panel entirley... the only thing left the to remove the weight and open up the drum itself.

I still cannt figure out why the drumm is not spinning. I am not able to see any obviously damaged belt or where that belt should go, assuming that it is a belt problem.

The rear motor belt appears fine and spins the drum during wash cycles..

Any ideas on how to resolve this are appreciated..

Well it appears that the Carbon brushes are worn.

I will change them and see how it goes.
