hi all
my dads just had a gas cooker fitted.
my main concern is the fitting used.
the bayonet elbow 1/2 inch fitting is connected to a compression wall plate elbow at the supply in the kitchen.
shouldnt this be a soldered wall plate fitting?
thanks.
regards.

It's OK but I would have soldered it. You mustn't use compression fittings where they are inaccessible, I think this position is just about sufficiently accessible, though not best practice.

hi paul thanks for reply
its just that i didnt want my old man paying for a botched job and putting his life at risk.
the only other worry i have with this, is the compression wall plate looks like what you would fit a garden tap to.
i asked dad if he checked if he was corgi registered, but he didnt ask.
he's 70 years old and left him to get on with it.
regards.

Yes the fitting is the same quite right. If it's natural gas a brass olive is OK if it's lpg must use copper.
