my 6/7 year old potterton profile 100e for the first time has started giving problem . Found the boiler off and tried to light it but it would not do so but when i pushed the reset swith it lighted up and was ok for 6 hours or so and then back to same problem again. i have done this three times now and have switched the boiler off ! and it has to happen on friday!
any help advise will be appreciated .

reset trips because boiler gettin to hot . So sounds like new boiler stat req

namsag -thanks v much. just a thought is it safe to use the boiler under the circumstances for few hours until i get an engineer to sort it out which looks like will be early next week. weekend

Just be careful. Depending on the type of system you have depends on whether it is the just the Thermostat or whether it might be the Pump over run stat.
After many years on Profiles I have been caught out a few times with this one!
