Tiling around shower??

Hi All. Just a quick question, l am installing a new shower (aqualisa aquastream) and was wondering if it is best to tile around the shower once it's installed or to tile first and then install it? I am using pretty small bevelled tiles by the way.

Tile the wall first (with the water pipe(s) protruding). Then fit the shower. If you tiled round the shower, what would happen when you need a new shower? You'd need to retile. Also if you tile afterwards, it doesn't look as good.

Is the shower area waterproof such as tanking before you start tiling?
