emulsion crackled

Hi, I lined my daughters wall with lining paper and then emulsioned, in time the emulsion around the window recess and on one other wall took on a crackled appearance painting over didn't work as the crackling came back when it dried, most of the wall is fine.

I also painted skimmed walls in my bathroom and the same thing happened around the window and in one corner of the room.

Can anyone help.

It usually happens when you paint over dried wallpaper paste. The water in the paint reconstitutes the paste which then shrinks as it dries causing the crazing.

Another possibility is that there is silicon sealant around the windows which will cuase the same problem

I know paste can be a nuisance but the bathroom had been newly skimmed no paste anywhere.
