anyone have any tips for connecting 25mm mdpe to lead supply pipe?

I'm replacing the old lead pipe with the blue stuff; I've located the lead pipe at the boundary and its so old and rusty it doesn't look as though I could get a good connection on it

there is no external stopcock on the property boundary so I have arranged for the waterboard to install one (no cost apparently) so my only other option is to lay the pipe before they arrive and get them to connect it then, but this could leave me with no supply for a while until I can get the other end routed into the house and connected up

any advice would be appreciated

thanks

Lead don't go rusty.

Buy a philmac universal coupling for lead to mdpe

looks like rust, guess it could be build up of hardened clay / soil, if so this should scrape off to leave a nice clean lead pipe???

Yep it`s the clay ;) .scrape it off with a painters shave hook.....that`s what the old plumbers used
