Yellow Pilot Flame

My pilot flame is now yellow and the flame is not in great contact with the Thermocouple, would a new top socket fix this???

I am not a gas fitter but a yellow flame means incomplete combustion and thats NOT good. It should be blue. Service would be sensible.

Service's are always sensible, but in the case of incomplete combustion to be on the safe side:

STOP USING!! GET AN RGI IMMEDIATELY!!



(And I know caps are considered shouting mods...!)

As already explained a yellow flame indicated that carbon monoxide is being produced and thats a dangerous condition.

As you are clearly not trained in working on gas appliances it would be foolhardy for anyone here to give you detailed instructions on fixing your problems, particularly when you have not even said what make and model you have.

Treat the safety of youself and your family as important and get a trained professional, that means CORGI registered!
