On most boilers the pump expanshion vessel and filling loop are on the return.
It should be obvious by looking at the internal arrangement as the pump is always on the return.
I am surprised you did not find their tech help much good. Their Technical manager, John Wilson, is very good and strives to maintain a high standard.
