If you try a repair, the supplier can reasonably refuse to replace it, so it will cost you to buy another one. If you take it back as is, they should replace it. Why do you want to keep this particular one? does it have some special memories for you? has someone special used it? Get a replacement, it could last a lifetime, your repair could last a week.
