i tryed in vain to give the kitchen doors a new lease of life the surface was old and dirty the top layer scraped of to reveal contiboard but as what ever was on top has come of it has damaged the surface underneath so i need to fill it and paint it but every where i've looked on the net they talk about how good contiboard is and how you should cut but not how to paint it help.

Use one of the paints made for "melamine" surfaces, International make a range. I would fill with an epoxy filler and sand down to about 320grit to get a good finish.
