Whining noise

Hello, I need advice/help.

1) Boiler make / model
Potterton Promax HE Gas

2) What is happening
Whining noise when heating is on. And when heating water

3) Has ANYTHING else been done / changed recently
No. But i have taken the cover off.

4) When did it (problem) start
About two months now

5) When does it happen? eg, heating coming on or going off
When heating is on and when water heating up

6) Anything else you feel may be of relevance
Can't think of anything

Is the noise only for a short time when either the central heating or hot water first starts up?

Hi Plumbnuts.
The noise is a constant whine when the heating is on. And it whines after the hot water has been used. Any idea's.

i have a customer who complains about similar noise.new install.never does it when im there.main 24he.

It is a constant whine when the heating is on. Pump has been changed no joy. Noise comes from boiler. sounds like an outboard motor.

Could be
over gassed - check gas rate is within tolerance
contaminated heat exch - flush boiler, check circulation
damaged burner - replace
or something else!
